When you put on a trashy 90s made-for-TV, ripped-from-the-headlines thriller expecting it to be a casual watch but it's actually a well-directed and unsettling look at a misogyny-driven monster who was allowed to exact his horrifying spree because all signs were ignored and the victim wasn't taken seriously fast enough.
Skirts into that queasy territory where the true-life events are presented as exploitative (people flying through windows and the like) but I guess in 1993 maybe they needed to go there on film to drive the point home. Even more fucked up for how many events just like this are still happening in the news and yet, here we are not doing enough still. Incredibly depressing.

Review by The Voluptuous Horror of Sally Jane Black
A careful depiction of the obsessive, possessive, misogynistic entitlement of the stalker, this film takes the true story of a mass murderer and presents it without sympathy for the murderer, without any frills or attempts to humanize. It's a presentation of the fear and frustration of being targeted by a figure of privilege--the road blocks at HR, the futility of restraining orders, the cruelty of capitalist patriarchy. Laura is an asset in a system of repression (she's literally trying for a security clearance--she's part of the imperialist machine), but she's unable to rely on that system to protect her against its privileged son. The film doesn't delve into her position of privilege and power, but relies on her relative lack…

I really enjoy Richard Thomas playing a nutter so when I saw a friend on here had watched this clearly romantic film I just had to include it in Soppy fortnight I love how there was no subtly whatsoever to this. It was just like 2 date offers rejected equals a no fucks given about who knows about full blown stalking lunacy. After all the laughing at it though, the last half an hour was genuinely eerie and terrifying, shudder!

I'm glad to update my obsession movie list with this title aka Stalking Laura.
Based on a real case. It's the story of Richard who fell in love with Laura Black since the first time he saw her.
In the first 10 minutes of the movie, we already have him stalking her a few times. One thing that I was wondering about what the movie was about if he was already acting weird.
The attention he gives her and planning and talking to her as his wife made it for a very creepy story, especially knowing that it was true.
We have a huge scene in the last 30 minutes with him walking through the office and starting a massacre.…

This movie, also known as Stalking Laura, is based on the true story of American mass murderer Richard Farley. His obsession and stalking of colleague Laura Black resulted in the mass murder of several co-workers at the office of the company where they both worked.
The movie is a depiction of events that took place in 1988, and what is disturbing: you can replace 1988 with any other year that comes after it, right up until now.
I don't have much to say about this film, except that Brooke Shields and Richard Thomas did a great job.
If you are interested in true crime, this movie is worth your time.

I can’t make you love me, but I will make you love Stalking Laura!
I’m always down for a trashy obsessive romance story, so Stalking Laura caught my eye right away. But I actually wasn’t prepared for how much I would be invested in this! Generally these true crime thrillers attempt to glamorize the suspects or humanize them, making them appear charismatic and appealing. This one lets you know Rich Farley is a bad dude straight out the gate. From the moment he appears on screen he’ll creep you right tf outttt and Richard Thomas does an amazing job portraying the unstable psycho opposite Brooke Shields. I wasn’t familiar with the real life crimes this film was based on, so…

Had all the makings of a great 90s TV film- sax music, true crime, and off-brand cola

Guess it makes sense that this keeps a pace because it's cramming a four year stalking case into one 90 minute movie, but still kinda taken aback when a mere 10 minutes in this guy goes "how can we have a relationship if you keep avoiding me". Richard Thomas' performance is some real Paul Snider madness/sadness hiding behind those eyes right from the get. A depressing reminder that people need to die before change can happen.
